Resources for running aTrees for Hope event
Any event, big or small, that shares in the vision of Trees for Hope is welcome to use the resources provided here.
Guiding Principles
Your event can be small (a few neighbours) or community wide. Each event can be tailored to its community.
-
All Trees for Hope events encourage people in the proposed Alto corridor to have hope for a bright future on their land
-
All Trees for Hope events connect people to helpful mental health resources
-
Ideally, Trees for Hope events encourage communities to advocate for an Alto-free future. If you partner with an organization or event that is not in a position to explicitly support this message, it is still valuable to hold your event as long as it meets the first two guiding principles.
For community wide events, look for existing local tree planting or tree giveaway programs to partner with. Tell them about the guiding principles of Trees for Hope and ask if they would be willing to incorporate this messaging in their event. Offer to help at the event. Distribute a customizable flyer about mental health resources (Templates below).
Ask a local nursery to support your event with tree donations or discounts.
Consider partnering with local mental health services. For example, you could request a mental health workshop through the Canadian Mental Health Association or the Farmer Wellness Initiative, and publicize it through your event.
Try to spread the message of hope and solidarity beyond the in-person attendees by letting local media know about your event, and asking them to shine a light on the issue as well as relevant mental health resources.
